About Pondlight, the daily pond puzzle
Pondlight is a free daily logic puzzle about ripples. You get three stones and a small pond dotted with lily pads, a few rocks and some sleeping lotus buds. Drop the stones so that every lotus lights up while every plain pad stays dry. Each stone sends a ripple three steps across the water, rocks block it, and a pad hit by two ripples at once cancels out and stays dark. That cancelling rule is what turns it from counting into a puzzle.
Every pond has exactly one solution, and everybody gets the same pond on the same day, so you can compare notes without spoilers.
One strategy tip: start with the pad that is hardest to reach, usually a lotus tucked behind a rock, and list the few cells that can touch it. Then check what each choice does to the plain pads nearby. Two stones that overlap on a plain pad are often the clue, because that overlap is how you keep it dark.
Pondlight is made by a small two-person team. It is free to play, needs no account and sits next to Paint Roller, a second two-minute puzzle that arrives every day at the same time.
Pondlight FAQ
Is Pondlight free?
Yes. Pondlight is free to play, there is nothing to buy and you do not need to sign up.
When does the puzzle reset?
A new pond arrives at your local midnight, so the day changes at a different moment for people in different time zones. Puzzle numbers count days since 1 January 2026.
How is par worked out?
Par is three, the number of stones the answer needs. Every pond is checked by a solver that tries every way of placing the stones, and only boards with exactly one solution are used. You earn three stars at par, two stars within two extra moves and one star after that. Using a hint caps you at two stars.
Do I need an account?
No. There are no accounts. Your streak, stats and settings are saved in your own browser, so they stay on the device you play on.
Does it work offline?
Once the page has loaded, the whole game runs in your browser, so losing your connection mid-puzzle will not interrupt it. Fiddleday is not an installable offline app yet, so you need a connection to open the page in the first place.
