About Scout, the daily football player guessing game
Scout is a free daily football quiz where you guess the player from his career. Every matchday has five mystery footballers. In each round six cards sit on the table: six players who wore the same shirt in the same position, close in era, and one of them is the man. The clues arrive one at a time and run the other way from a normal quiz. The first ones are deep cuts, like a first club, a loan spell, a manager or a teammate. The last ones are the famous facts that give him away.
You get one signing a round, and timing is the whole game. Sign the right man after the first clue and he is worth 100 points; wait for all five and he is worth 15. The counter above the clues shows how many of your six still fit, so you can tell when a guess has become a sure thing. At least two rounds a day bring a story from the dressing room: a celebration, a famous moment, a nickname or a quote.
The players come from all over the world and made their names in the big European leagues over the last forty years, so a good day mixes legends you grew up with and the stars of today. Everyone gets the same matchday, so the argument is about who you signed and when. Five right is a clean sheet. Share your row of squares without spoiling a single name.
Scout needs no account and sits next to Stakes, Brim and Paint Roller. Missed a day? The archive keeps the earlier matchdays.
How to play Scout
- Read the clue. Each round starts with one clue about the mystery player. The counter shows how many of the six cards still fit.
- Rule players out. Tap the ✕ on a card to cross out a player as a note to yourself, then ask for the next clue when you are not sure yet.
- Sign the man. Pick a card and press Sign. 100 points after one clue, 75 after two, then 50, 30 and 15. The wrong man scores nothing.
- Five rounds, one matchday. After each round his career appears in club shirts. At the end you get your score out of 500, up to three stars and a share card.
Scout FAQ
Is Scout free?
Yes. Scout is free to play, there is nothing to buy and you don’t need an account.
When does a new matchday start?
A new matchday arrives at your local midnight. Everyone gets the same five players and the same clues on the same day. Puzzle numbers count days since 1 January 2026.
How does the scoring work?
A matchday has five rounds. In each round you sign one of six players. The right man after the first clue is worth 100 points, then 75, 50, 30 and 15 after the fifth. A wrong signing scores 0 for that round. The best day is 500 points, and five right signings is a clean sheet. One star from 100 points, two from 250, three from 400.
What does still fit mean?
The counter shows how many of your six still fit every clue so far. It starts at six and drops as the clues rule players out, until only one is left. The first clues are deep cuts that only a keen fan can use; they get more famous as you go.
Can I play earlier matchdays?
Yes. Use the day buttons or the archive under the top bar to play any of the last 14 matchdays. The full list is on the archive page.
